“He’ll meet you wherever you are.”
A phrase I have always heard, but never truly understood. Sure, I knew Jesus loved me, but I had gotten so far away from him that I wasn’t even sure that he would recognize me. That couldn’t have been further from the truth.
You see, Jesus remembers all of his children no matter the distance. He still watches over us. He’s always there knocking at our hearts. Sometimes we just don’t hear him. We allow daily life and the devil to slowly creep in. And once he realized he can get in, boy does he.
Recently we moved to a TINY town. I mean so small that literally the first day we visited the church everyone knew where we lived. My husband and I just laughed and said “yep, that’s us”. God had a purpose for moving us here though. And it was the church.
We looked and looked and put offers on houses and constantly was outbid or something fell through. And every bit of that led to us building where we are now. God knew that even though it was only a 12-minute drive from town we wouldn’t try the church unless we lived here.
I have never felt a more overwhelming feeling of “this is exactly where I’m supposed to be”. God is placing people in our lives to help us get back on track and to make sure our munchkin is exposed and grows up with Godly friends and adult influences like we did. And most importantly God is knocking down my walls and making me vulnerable to him again.
I am telling you this to tell the one who thinks that there’s no going back to him, there is. I wasn’t a terrible person. But I wasn’t watering that relationship with my God and the devil was able to get in. I made excuses every Sunday about why we don’t have to go. But God said, “he’ll meet me where I am.” And he showed up. He knew we were struggling with getting back on track and he said “here let me help you with that”.
I’m not perfect. I sin daily. I am so thankful for the never-ending love and forgiveness God gives to us.
